We’ve all seen the visions of the brave children, women, and men of Haiti actually lifting their voices in song as they sought to dry their tears and assist each other in the aftermath of the tragic earthquake. Looking for a meaningful way to join our voices, hands, and hearts with our Haitian brothers and sisters as they rebuild their bodies, their families, their homes, and their nation, some of the top musical acts in the Twin Cities got together to organize a fabulous concert.

Fans old, new, and yet to be of these artists will get the joy of seeing them all perform live on stage at Hands & Hearts for Haiti. These fans will have the added joy of knowing that all of their donations will go directly to The American Red Cross for their ongoing efforts to bring rebirth to the nation of Haiti.

When Hands & Hearts for Haiti put out a call for a host for the show Unity In The Heart church of Saint Paul not only decided to open that heart but also their home. The concert will begin at 3:00 PM on Sunday, February 21, 2010 at The Triune Masonic Lodge, 1898 Iglehart Ave. St. Paul, where Unity holds its regular Sunday services. Michael Monroe will start off the show with his stunning mix of live acoustic/technical magic. Followed by, but not necessarily it this order: Curtis & Loretta, who City Pages says is, “… in many ways the quintessential folk duo.” - Larry Long, called "a true American Troubadour" by author Studs Terkel, has made his life work the celebration of American stories and heroes. - Lonnie Knight, singer/songwriter and “guitarist of the first order.” - Family artist Will Hale, who was recently recognized as a Twin Cities Small Business of the Year - Tim Brown, singer/songwriter and finalist in the Highway 61 Folk Festival Songwriting contest. - Keyboard wizard Hiram Titus has been associated for 30 years with many local and regional theaters including the Guthrie Theatre and the Minneapolis Children's Theater where he was Composer in Residence for four years. - Husband and wife duo Amy & Adams and Band will close the show with a tasty blend they’ve dubbed Eclectic/FolkRock/TinPanAlley/BluesGrass, then they will be joined by the other acts on stage and the audience for the finale.

Benefit organizer Mark Adams-Westin of Amy & Adams says. “For years I’ve loved sitting in the audiences for these great artists, my friends really. They’re all so enchanting that I even forget to be envious. Now Amy & I will get to share the stage with these folks. We’re checking off the days ‘til the show. And how could we find a more welcoming and truly unique venue than Unity In The Heart held at Minnesota’s oldest continually meeting Masonic Lodge. It’s a really cool place.”
Michael Monroe From vinyl to digital, performing his original acoustic folk, reggae and jazz, Michael Monroe blends rich vocals, guitars, bamboo and crystal flutes together... recycling his award winning music "live" using technology that's powered by creativity.   "With heartfelt sincerity and a poetic touch in both the lyrics and music, Monroe explores subtle, quiet places that spark the imagination." By Rick Mason City Pages
Curtis & Loretta have been acclaimed across the country for their exquisite harmonies, incisive songwriting, and skill on an array of stringed instruments, including Celtic harp, mandocello, mandolin, guitar, clawhammer banjo, and ukulele.   City Pages says, “They are in many ways the quintessential folk duo: finely honed vocal harmonies of multidimensional intrigue, abundant talent on an array of stringed instruments, deep traditional roots, great originals, and equally strong strains of gravity and playful irreverence."
Larry Long, called "a true American Troubadour" by author Studs Terkel, has made his life work the celebration of American stories and heroes. Now a Smithsonian Folkways recording artist, Larry has sung at major festivals, concerts and events throughout the U.S. and internationally. Long is a recipient of the prestigious Bush Artists Fellowship, the Pope John XXIII Award and In The Spirit of Crazy Horse Award for his work in forgotten communities.
Lonnie Knight may joke that “Legendary is just another way of saying ‘...been around a long time,’” but the lanky Minnesotan is one of those rare musicians who has truly earned the title Legendary. He got his start learning from the likes of Townes Van Zandt. Then he played in some of the Midwest’s seminal rock bands, including Jokers Wild and the Hoopsnakes. The release of 2007’s tour de force, I Wrote My Name on You, is inspiring a whole new generation of fans.
Will Hale & The Tadpole Parade Kid tested, parent approved and teacher recommended family entertainment to prove you're never too old to feel young! Kids are the rock stars. When they clap, dance and sing with Will Hale, the king of rocking air guitar. Will's performances create a fun atmosphere filled with plenty of audience participation, excitement and energy.
Tim Brown is a singer/songwriter performing primarily in the Twin Cities and surrounding areas. His album of original songs “North of North” received significant airplay throughout the midwest and in the west. His song “Fill in the Void” broke into the top twenty of the Soundclick folk charts. His second CD, "Oh My," was released in 2009. Brown has appeared as the opening act for groups as divergent as Blood, Sweat, and Tears and Iron Butterfly. Most recently, Brown was a finalist in the Highway 61 Folk Festival Songwriting contest.
Hiram Titus has been associated for 30 years with many local and regional theaters including the Guthrie Theatre and the Minneapolis Children's Theater where he was Composer in Residence for four years.
Amy & Adams have been performing their tasty blend of Eclectic / Folk Rock / Tin Pan Alley / BluesGrass in and around the Twin Cities for 15 years.  Their four CDs have all received national & International airplay.  Amy & Mark Adams-Westin will be joined by George Hadden on Bass and The Rev. Carl Wergyn on Drums for the benefit.
